I've always had a complicated relationship with God. One minute is like I'm all joyful, full of faith, and ready to tackle this world with everything I have. The next it's like He is so far, I can't seem to reach Him and its like I have to beg him to come to me.

This season is becoming exhausting, right? When Covid-19 was officially declared a pandemic and nations started going on lock-down, a good number of us figured it would be gone after a month or two at most. The idea of staying home didn't sound so bad- especially for those who barely get a break from work. Learners being sent home also wasn't an issue- after all, it's only for a short while, no? Now it's been months down the line and life isn't back to what it used to be yet. For some, one moment it looks like we're headed back to normalcy then the next we have to go back into hiding. The numbers keep going down and suddenly rising again. We're losing our nerve. The children are becoming too much to handle and it's seeming exhausting to have to spend every waking day around the same environment with the same people. We all care. Most of us like to say we do not really care what anyone thinks about us but truth is that deep down we really do. It's just that some of us have slowly been sucked into approval addiction while some have gradually realized that it really shouldn't matter that much so we try not to let others' opinions sway us. It's that time of the year when hope is overflowing (that's mostly the general assumption). There are those to whom 2018 was like a guest who had overstayed his/her welcome- they couldn't wait to say goodbye. There are also those who had pretty much the best year they'd had in a very long time. This is that time of the year when for most people, nothing feels so impossible. Weight can be gained or lost, money can be saved, personalities can be improved, dreams can be revived... I mean, everything feels achievable. A new year is much like a second chance for many. A chance to have another go at stuff that may not have worked out so well before. As I said, hope is overflowing😊.

Recently a friend of mine posted on Facebook that many at times people ask you which career you are in inorder to measure the amount of respect they should give you. This is a sad fact and not only so but there is a huge social, financial and career expectation that has been burdened on the boy and the girl child as well. Sometimes things go dark. So dark that life ceases to make sense... Sometimes things go wrong and just when we think they can't get any worse they actually do... Sometimes we get weak...or as we like to say, life happens. This song, I believe, is for those times when life happens. Because those are the times we are prone to forget the truth we very much proclaim to know. Those  are the times we question our faith in God, we question His love for us, we question the very Words we so clearly heard Him speak to us.
