ABIDE WITH ME

This post is not for one who got it under control. This post is not for you who thinks you have to do a number of things to get God's attention. This post is not for one who already has a list of this years resolution and is willing to make everything work. This one today is for you who only knows that God is with you and that is all that matters. One who is aware of the new year but still has a junk of the previous years trying to weigh them down.




Abide with me, fast falls the evening tide
The darkness deepens, Lord with me abide
When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless, Oh abide with me
This hymn speaks a prayer of one totally in need of God. One who knows fully well that their flesh has failed them and their perfect self is a story of the past. I know they will tell you it is vulnerable to be in such a state, but the history of the men of faith tell me quite the opposite. Like when Moses told God that they will not move unless God goes with them.
The third verse of the same hymn goes
I need thy presence every passing hour
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power
Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, Abide with me
We need God every step of the way. We need His Holy Spirit as our best friend. We need the reminder of the finished work of Christ and the symbol of Love on the cross. I do not know about you but it is a high time we put aside the norm and just let God guide us. Wherever you may be or whatever your plan may have been.

REMEMBER

Sometimes things go dark. So dark that life ceases to make sense... Sometimes things go wrong and just when we think they can't get any worse they actually do... Sometimes we get weak...or as we like to say, life happens. This song, I believe, is for those times when life happens. Because those are the times we are prone to forget the truth we very much proclaim to know. Those  are the times we question our faith in God, we question His love for us, we question the very Words we so clearly heard Him speak to us. We've heard it said countless times that when it comes to talking to God, there's no sort of perfect way to it. What matters most is the state of our hearts.  A broken and contrite heart- these, He will not despise. A good number of people say music gets them through pretty much everything. The truth is that music is powerful. However there have been times in my life when nothing made sense.
