HOW MY FAITH IS BUILT

I once read somewhere that if faith was easy then everyone would be perfect at it. This however is not the case. Many people, even the greatest people in the bible at some point would get discouraged when things didn't seem to work as soon as they had hoped for or in the manner of which they had anticipated. Abraham had a son out of God's promise, Paul prayed so hard for God to take away the thorn in his flesh, David fell not once or twice but many times and then we have Job's story very clear. We may see these instances as failures but what if this is where you are strengthened?

Hii safari, Ilianza mbali
(This journey, I started from a far)
Sikuwa vile wala hivi nilivyo
(I was not the way I am)
Zimekuwa nyakati za kuvunjika moyo
(There have been seasons of discouragement)
Nyakati za kilio, kuvuta machozi
(Seasons of mourning and wiping off of tears)
Nyakati za kicheko, kupendwa na halaiki ya watu
(Seasons of laughter and being followed by the masses)
Nimesoma, habari za manabii wa zamani
(I have read about the old time prophets)
Dhahabu hupitia motoni, mwishowe yang'ara kama nyota
(Gold has to pass through the fire, then it shines like the stars)
Hayo*3 chakula cha mteule, yatujengea Imani
(Those are the food of the chosen ones, that build our faith)
Hayo*3 ushuhuda wa mteule
(Those are the testimonies of the chosen ones)
I have never read a story of any of the people we look up to who have not had a share of troubles in their success. Everyone has a beginning. Every saint has a past. The beautiful thing is that this is part of the journey and it is the place where our faith is really built. The bible says in Romans 5:3-5
"Not only so but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character and character hope. And hope does not disappoint us because God has poured His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us."
The Psalmist also says that the sufferings of the righteous are many but it is God who redeems them from them all. It is not that God has no other way of getting us to our full grown stage but He knows that the character to keep us there is what is important. Like a preacher once said, God had to take the children of Israel through the desert to get Egypt of of their system.
Look at it this way, if there were no demanding situations then there would be no smart people to solve them. No trouble, no miracle. Then in this perspective the trouble is not a problem but a blessing. You get to know what you are made of

when going through the shadow of death, and this is where you get to see the helping hand of God and experience His unconditional Love.
 Hapa nimefika, hapa kwa Imani
(This far is by faith)
Hapa ninatumaini, oooh ya maisha mema
(This far I have hope for a good life)
