✨New Beginnings
It's that time of the year when hope is overflowing (that's mostly the general assumption).
There are those to whom 2018 was like a guest who had overstayed his/her welcome- they couldn't wait to say goodbye. There are also those who had pretty much the best year they'd had in a very long time.
This is that time of the year when for most people, nothing feels so impossible. Weight can be gained or lost, money can be saved, personalities can be improved, dreams can be revived... I mean, everything feels achievable. A new year is much like a second chance for many. A chance to have another go at stuff that may not have worked out so well before. As I said, hope is overflowing😊.
On the flip-side, there are those who are a little bit or very much like me- a mixture of very hopeful and thoroughly terrified. I woke up this morning(you know, after the midnight hype and whatnot) and had a mini panic attack just at the realization that it's a whole new season altogether. I lay in bed not quite sure what to make of this whole "new year situation"(crazy, I know). I was mostly wondering what would happen this year. "Will things be good?" "Will I achieve whatever I set out to achieve?" "What mountains will I have to climb?" "Will I conquer those mountains?"..."Can I maybe go back a few days and come walk into 2019 in better style? God, can I?"
But then I was reminded that God is constant. Seasons come and go and He's still the same. What's more encouraging is that He's perfect. Basically, He's everything good I ever wanted. And,,, He loses at NOTHING. Even when it looks like He has lost, he actually hasn't. You know the feeling when your favourite character in a movie sort of dies and then you realize after being heartbroken for a while that apparently they had bulletproof vests on or some random person found them and took care of them so they didn't actually die? It's like that, but better, and REAL.
So whether you have started your year very hopeful or thoroughly terrified or both, the point is that God is constant. You can trust Him completely with all you are. And among His many awesome attributes is one that melts my heart- FAITHFUL. This says to us that inasmuch as we want it to be all good, whatever happens that may be the opposite of that will not destroy us because this faithful God will be here all the way. To watch that His promises over us are fulfilled. He will work it all out for our good in the long run.
My prayer is that God helps us keep our eyes open and fixed on Him alone.
And if at all you feel like you don't have it in you to get through this year, remember that He who is in you is greater than he who's in the world. So really, you are a conqueror already.
PTML Wishes you a blessed 2019.
Hoping to journey with you till the end.💖
