ANOTHER IN THE FIRE
"Man plans, God laughs". It's interesting how we can come up with stuff to do and places to go overtime and end up doing just that,
and how we can do the same and end up doing "unplanned" for things and visiting places that didn't necessarily cross our minds.
Imagine if the life you had envisioned for yourself five or ten years ago was turning out EXACTLY as you wanted it to (assuming you had all the wisdom and knowledge to plan accordingly). Smooth, right?
It's all bliss when we are able to plan something and execute the plan successfully. The issue is with the unexpected, often difficult things that just come up- we forget things, maybe it rains unexpectedly, or sickness happens, death knocks and enters, jobs are lost out of the blue.
It could be anything big or small. The point is that sometimes life hits us so hard we're left spinning.
There's a grace when the heart is under fire
Another way when the walls are closing in
And when I look at the space between
Where I used to be and this reckoning
I know I will never be alone.
Shadrach Meshach and Abednego were told to bow to an idol lest they be thrown into a furnace. And these men had so much faith- so much so that they weren't shaken by the threats. They were sure God would save them.
And even if He didn't, they were still content and unshaken in their trust. Well, once they were thrown into the furnace the spectators were baffled- the fire didn't touch them...and there was someone else in there with them.

There was another in the fire
Standing next to me
There was another in the waters
Holding back the seas
And should I ever need reminding
Of how I've been set free
There is a cross that bears the burden
Where another died for me
There is another in the fire...
We can never be certain concerning exactly how every detail of our lives will go. That doesn't call for us to be afraid of the future or of planning. We can remain hopeful for better days. In fact, planning for tomorrow is a sign that you trust in the God of tomorrow.
He says he is I AM. The same one who was, is and is to come. He won it all. So, count the joy in every battle, coz that's where He will be.

Wooow! I thought about the same line another day. We plan but God establishes.
